Crinkleroot Retreat is a program sponsored by the Appalachian State University Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Institute for Health and Human Services in conjunction with Autism Speaks U. This is a weekend day camp that offers a typical camp experience for children in the community who are ages 8-14 with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The retreat will take place April 20-22, 2012.

Crinkleroot will be staffed by approximately 30-40 volunteers from Appalachian State University who will attend a training prior to camp. Each camper will be paired one-to-one with a counselor throughout the camp day. The groups will participate in a variety of activities including outdoor recreational activities, expressive arts activities, group interaction games, a campfire and other fun camp activities. All activities at Crinkleroot will be modified to provide a fun and enriching weekend for each individual camper.

Ready to sign up for Crinkleroot?  Please complete a Crinkleroot Retreat 2012 Application and Participation Agreement.  Additionally, please see the detailed daily schedule of activities to get a better understanding of the weekend offerings.   There are no fees to particpate in the Crinkleroot Retreat, however, pre-registration is required and space is limited.  The deadline for registration is March 16, 2012.
