Recognizing the crucial benefits of early intervention for young children and their families, the LICC of Watauga County is a community based advisory group for the implementation of an interagency system of early intervention services.
The LICC of Watauga County accepts the responsibility to:A. Encourage development and coordination of services for families of children who are identified for special needs, ages birth to five years.B. Strengthen and support the family unit.C. Share information among professionals and agencies providing services.D. Create a common source of information and education for families, agencies and the community.E. Identify needs for additional services and advocate for these services.F. Participate in child find activities Members include:Membership is open to any agency in the community working with and supporting efforts to maximize potential of children birth to five years. Ideally, the LICC of Watauga County shall include representatives from each of the following: Parent RepresentativesWatauga County Department of Social ServicesWatauga County Head StartWatauga County Health DepartmentWatauga County Schools Private Daycare Providers and StaffAppalachian Regional HealthcarePrivate Special Therapists (to include PT, OT, ST, and Early Interventionist)Pediatricians, Family Physicians, or liaisons for medical officesAppalachian State UniversityChildren’s Council of Watauga CountyParent To ParentCivic GroupsCommunity LeadersChildren’s Development Services Agency
