Healthy Heart Collaborative

Healthy Heart CollaborativeIn 2017 the Healthy Heart Collaborative was formed between the Omar Carter Foundation, Blue Cross of NC Institute for Health and Human Services, and the Appalachian Regional Hospital System. The collaborative focuses on cardiac health with goals of educating and advancing sudden cardiac death awareness as well as the promotion of cardiovascular health in the high country community.

Camp Med

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: YOU’RE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN CAMP MED SUMMER PROGRAM!

Camp Med Summer Program is a great way to expose High School students to the world of possibilities in health careers. Now more than ever the need for talented healthcare workforce is a necessity. Students will be exposed to the stimulating world of working in healthcare, reflect on social determinants of health, and even get a virtual tour of a human heart! There is even a chance to win a gift card through the Camp Med video contest! Registration is FREE.

We invite students grades 8-12 to sign up and gain 20+ hours of designed programming to meet the goals and objectives, give students a fun and rewarding experience while acquiring knowledge and skills that will help them to make informed decisions on their future careers in health.

IHHS is committed to improving the lives of our community members as they grow older. In collaboration with the Aging Well Support Program  a series of workshops has been developed and is open to the High Country Community.
