iSHINE Scholars

iSHINE scholars are full-time graduate students in Speech-Language Pathology, Special Education (general or adapted concentration) or Reading Education. Selected scholars complete coursework and a practicum experience working to develop specialized knowledge and skills working as members of interdisciplinary teams in serving K-12 students who have "high-intensity" needs.  Students selected to participate in the project receive the following: (a) a stipend across three semesters; (b) a full-time graduate tuition waiver for three semesters; (c) and travel funds for state and national conferences. Stipends and tuition waivers received by iSHINE scholars are considered forgivable loans as per the U.S. Department of Education. Scholars repay their loans by working in a setting serving children with high-intensity needs anywhere in the US for two years for every year of funding.
