Division of Community Outreach
Through connection with community partners and by responding to direct requests for assistance, the IHHS Division of Community Outreach strives to link people and programs at the university with areas of health need in the community.
Collaboration with numerous organizations including Watauga County Schools, Healthy Carolinians, Community Collaborative, Northwest Tobacco Coalition, Appalachain District Health Department, Watauga 4 Youth, Appalachian Ashe Prevention Partnership, Watauga County Law Enforcement Agencies and Appalachian Regional Hospital Association keep the Institute connected to health programming as well as health needs in the community.
A commitment to continuing education and training needs of professionals in the areas of health and human services is a top priority of the Division of Community Outreach. Training programs vary from 1 hour workshops to multi-day offerings to meet the licensing and accreditation needs of professionals in a variety of disciplines. Through workshops, forums and seminars, the Institute also supports trainings for parents, teachers and other members of our community who approach the Institute with requests for assistance.
